Here are two "mystery pictures" from our visit today to the Hemingway House in Key West. In the first picture, why is there a coin embedded in the mortar in the bottom left corner? In the second picture, what is the porcelain fixture that serves as a "drinking fountain" for the 6-toed estate cats? Both involve quirky stories about Hemingway. The other place we visited today was the Mel Fisher Maritime Museum. Fisher's discovery of the 1622 wreck of the Spanish galleon Atocha is wonderfully documented, and the display of gold and silver artifacts is magnificent. Forrest refused, however, to buy me one of the recovered silver coins - available for a modest $1200. What a cheapskate!
