Big Cypress Seminole Indian Reservation

We woke to a cool, cloudy morning for our drive to the Seminole Big Cypress Reservation. We met Robilee and Les Leedy at Billie Swamp Safari and had a memorable buggy tour. We saw turkey, bison, pigs, and a very indignant ostrich (no, this is NOT a closeup!). But the highlight was our sighting of a Florida panther that crossed the road in front of our buggy. It happened so fast, we didn’t get pictures, but we got a good look at a very rare animal. Lunch at the cafĂ© included gator nuggets with tartar sauce. We finished up the day with a tour at the Ah-Tah-Thi-Ki Seminole Museum – very informative!
