We went to First Presbyterian Church in Naples this morning for a wonderful service. The guest speaker was John Buchanan, who we heard at Chautauqua last summer. His sermon was on science and faith:
"The Message of the Stars". It should be online tomorrow and would be worth a listen. The organ is magnificent, and did justice to
Bach's Toccata and Fugue in D Minor, which concluded the sermon. The large Celtic cross suspended in the front of the sanctuary is of clear glass, graduating to a sky blue line through the center of each arm. It is very contemporary, and a design that didn't appeal to us until we recognized that it likely symbolized water and sky - most appropriate for this location.
This afternoon, we visited
Everglades City's annual Seafood Festival.
Quite an experience! We elbowed our way through leather-jacketed bikers, past tents with tacky souvenirs, and finally found the seafood vendors in the center of it all. Much of the food was Greek,

probably because of the community that developed in Naples when Greek sponge divers arrived in the late 1800s. We splurged on a $15 combo plate.

On the way home, we stopped briefly at the Everglades NP Gulf Coast Visitors Center, but couldn't stay long. It is, after all, Super Bowl night!
