I took advantage of the beautiful day to spend about 2 hours kayaking on Henderson Creek, toward Rookery Bay. I had company from anhinga, great blue heron, osprey, white ibis, cattle egret, and little blue heron. Never did find the dolphins that some other kayakers reported.
We also took a walk to the nearby KOA. On the way, we stopped at a culvert where we’d seen a small 4’ gator earlier in our stay (his photo is in the entry for Feb 11) . He’d gone missing during our cold weather and we thought he might be out now, enjoying the sun. I stood on the walk, shading my eyes and scanning the water, and yelped when I discovered him lounging on the bank about 3 feet from my toes!
