Over the river and through the woods .....

.... to Buckhorn Lake State Resort Park we went. The resort, near the Daniel Boone National Forest in SE Kentucky, was a beautiful, though remote, place to meet the Iowa family for Thanksgiving. On Thursday we had a buffet dinner, took a short hike in a light drizzle, shared our pictures from the past year, and played a game of Mexican Train dominoes.

On Friday, we drove 60 tortuous mountain miles to Berea to enjoy the craft shops there. Renfro Valley, advertised as the country music capital of Kentucky, is just south of Berea and we bought tickets for their evening show. When we arrived in the late afternoon, and realized we were only 30 miles north of Corbin, we couldn't resist driving down to eat supper in the original Colonel Sanders restaurant there. Funny, but the Kentucky-fried chicken didn't taste any different from what we get in Blacksburg!

The Iowa folks took off early Saturday morning, and we left soon after. It was good to have Sunday at home before Lynn headed back to school on Monday.

Very nice! This is going to be an easy way to post a log. Your Thanksgiving sounded nice. What a nice way to get together. I'll have to learn how to do those links yet. Did you see where you can have a slideshow on the sidebar? That is the next thing I'll play with.
